Day Twelve in Mumbai

After work Miguel and I went to Malad because there is a mall there, actually two. Miguel's Camera fell on the floor, the camera is still functional, but it a small part has separated itself and he try to find a shop that can help him repair the camera. Well, in our naive european-american thought a mall seems to be the best place to search for everything. I happend to know (don't ask me how) that there are two malls in Malad. So we headed out. It took us one and half an hour time, a lot of foot march, asking diverse people, and riding with two rickshaws to get to the malls.

It is a mall, but a very small one, with only three floors, it is nothing compared with the malls in America. Most stores are of clothes and parfume, from reknowned brands. They are cheaper then in Germany, but still the mall is almost empty, anyway compared to the crowd on the market. For me it indicates that most people cannot afford what is sold here.

There is a very nice souvenir's shop. Found my present for my boyfriend. But no shops for cameras.

We ate pasta at Pizza Hut. Two pastas, one coke, one water and one potato corner costs in total 700 Rupies. Quite expensive, and Indians don't really know how to make pastas. Next time I would prefer Indian food.

Susan in a Bombay TaxiToday I want you to meet Susan. Susan Geller is a Senior Managing Consultant based in Boston, USA.

Alone because of her senior experience she is one of the strongest personality in the team. But that's not her single trait. At the beginning I was always amused about the cautious attitute of her. She checks every food, if it is washed with purified water or with water out of the pipe. But it took not long and she is the person who fully embraces the environment. On our first cooking class she was the first person who began to eat like the Indians: with finger. All the rest of the team was reluctant to follow the example. But she made it heartily. It was very impressive. She is also the one who totally emerges into the crowded market to see what people buy and sale here. It is simply awsome to see her in action.

Sue works with Cecilia together in a women's power team for the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry to work on a concept to encourage more companies show their social responsibility. Already in the prework phase her skill in consulting is a benefit not only for that project, but for the whole team.

Susan and Kabi's dog今天我下介绍Susan。
