Day Seventeen in Mumbai

Monsoon in this year was low. As we arrived at the begin of September Kabi told us that the rain just started the day before our arrival. During our stay in Mumbai it did not rain much, maybe three hours in the week, and it was never really really really strong rain as you would expect with the work monsoon.

Yesterday evening as we drove to hotel the sky darkend and it began to rain. That was the first heaviest rain I had experienced in Mumbai. It poured down like a water fall, and it was dark as night. It was unbelievable that still people ride motorcycle. I don't know if they can see anything, and they must be soaked like they are swimming.

Shortly before we got to our hotel we witnessed an accident on the opposite lane of the highway. A truck rammed a motorcycle. The poor guy lied on the road bleeding while the water poured down. Someone once told me that in India if you have an accident people would just left you on the street because no one want to take the responsibility. But I do see other motorcycles stop and go to help the injured. I don't know how severe he was injured and how big a chance he has. The traffic jam was enorm and emergencies don't come very fast here. I hate to write such things down, I hate to see such things, but these are the life here.

The rain was so heavy that for the seven steps from the car to the door of the hotel my shirt as if it just came out of the washing machine without the centrifugal.
